Range Questions

Do I need to bring my own gun?

No. We have a wide selection of rental firearms available. Just bring a valid government-issued ID and we will get you set up.

Can I bring my own ammunition?

Yes, you can bring your own factory-loaded ammunition for your personal firearms. Reloaded or remanufactured ammunition is not permitted. Rental firearms require Range 42 ammunition.

What is the minimum age to shoot?

Shooters under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. To rent a firearm, you must be 21 or older (18+ with parent/guardian present).

Do I need a reservation?

No reservation needed for walk-in range use. Lanes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For group events or parties, we recommend booking in advance.

What calibers are allowed on the range?

Pistol caliber only — handguns and pistol-caliber carbines (approximately 1,800 fps max). No high-powered rifle ammunition. Please review our range rules or call ahead if you have a specific caliber question.

Training & Classes

Do you offer CCW classes?

Yes. Workman Firearms offers comprehensive Ohio Concealed Carry classes at both Range 42 locations. Classes include classroom instruction and live-fire range qualification. We also offer an online CCW course option.

I am a complete beginner. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Many of our customers are first-time shooters. Our Range Safety Officers will walk you through everything. For a more structured introduction, check out our Basic Handgun class.

Store Questions

Do you do FFL transfers?

Yes. Buy a firearm online and have it shipped to Range 42. We will handle the transfer paperwork. Call for current transfer fees.

Do you buy or trade firearms?

Yes, we accept trade-ins and purchase used firearms. Bring your firearm (unloaded, cased) to either location for an evaluation.

Can I use my membership at both locations?

Yes. Your Range 42 membership is valid at both the Brunswick and Norton locations.
